I tell labiaplasty patients to plan on using pain medication for the first 24-48 hours. They should plan to stay off their feet as much as possible for 2-3 days to minimize swelling. Most patients are back to work by 4-7 days after the procedure and back to working out, swimming, and using tampons by 2 weeks. This is when the majority of the swelling is gone and stitches have fully dissolved. Most patients are healed and comfortable having sex by 4-6 weeks after the procedure, although some patients may not be comfortable until 8-10 weeks. The final result is often visible by 6 weeks, meaning swelling is gone, and the incisions are no longer visible. But some patients continue to have fading of scars and reduction of swelling for up to 6 months after the procedure.
