Lumenis Femtouch CO2 Laser
As women age, they will experience changes in their vagina that are largely due to decreasing levels of the estrogen hormone. Especially common after childbirth, vaginal injury, and menopause, changes in your vagina may cause a number of unwelcome effects that take a serious toll on your sex life. These effects include vaginal dryness, loss of elasticity, and loss of tightness of the labia and vaginal cavity.
FemTouch™ is an innovative CO₂ laser treatment that is applied along the vaginal walls and delivers very gentle controlled ablation and coagulation of the vaginal lining for improved Women’s health. This promotes collagen stimulation and regeneration of health tissues along the vaginal canal.
Women who come to our practice for FemTouch treatment often share one or more of these experiences:
- Vaginal dryness that makes intercourse uncomfortable or painful
- A feeling of looseness or reduced sensation during intimacy
- Mild urinary leakage or urgency with coughing, sneezing, or exercise
- Itching, irritation, or a burning sensation in the vaginal area
- Changes after menopause — natural or surgical — or after breastfeeding
- Desire to improve the tone and texture of the external vulvar skin
- Interest in a non-hormonal, non-surgical solution
Lumenis Femtouch Vaginal Laser
Vaginal lasers are a new solution for treatment of vaginal health related conditions. Vaginal health related conditions such as vaginal atrophy and urinary incontinence are concerning a large population of post-menopausal women and women after child birth. Laser based technologies and specifically fractional CO2 lasers, have been proven to significantly improve symptoms of vaginal health related conditions.
- Fast – FemTouch treatment session takes just a couple of minutes and can be done as lunch time procedure
- Efficient – Optimal outcomes can be achieved just after 2-3 sessions. Most women require 3 sessions spaced a few weeks apart, with maintenance as needed.
- No downtime – Procedure doesn’t require anesthesia or special post care treatment
Benefits:
- Enhances lubrication and reduces dryness
- Helps with urinary urgency/leakage (mild stress incontinence)
- Reduces painful intercourse and improves sexual satisfaction
- Addresses age-related or post-menopausal changes in the vaginal tissue
External Vulva Health
In addition to the internal treatment, FemTouch can be applied externally as a resurfacing and rejuvenation laser for the labia majora and surrounding vulvar skin. This is something many women don’t realize is an option, and the results can be quite meaningful.
With age, sun exposure, hormonal changes, and the natural effects of time, the skin of the labia can become thinner, less elastic, and uneven in tone or pigmentation. External FemTouch treatment resurfaces this skin — improving texture, stimulating new collagen, and restoring more even pigmentation — without any surgery or downtime.
If uneven pigmentation of the labia or surrounding tissue is something that bothers you, this CO₂ resurfacing approach offers a non-surgical, non-hormonal option that genuinely works.
What to Expect: Your FemTouch Treatment
One of the things my patients appreciate most about FemTouch is how simple and comfortable the experience is compared to what they were expecting.
- No anesthesia required. The treatment uses a topical numbing cream in some cases, but most patients find it comfortable without any anesthesia at all. The sensation during treatment is typically described as mild warmth or a light vibration.
- The treatment itself takes just a few minutes — internal treatment of the vaginal canal is typically complete in under 5 minutes. External vulvar treatment adds a few minutes to that. Most patients schedule this during a lunch break and return to their normal activities the same day.
- No special preparation is required. You don’t need to do anything specific before your appointment, and there is no post-procedure care regimen needed beyond a brief period of avoiding intercourse.
- A series of 3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart is the standard starting protocol for most patients. Some women with mild concerns achieve good results in 2 sessions; those with more significant atrophy or laxity may benefit from an additional treatment. After your initial series, maintenance sessions once or twice a year help preserve your results over time.
- Results build gradually. You may notice some improvement after your first session, but the full benefit develops over 2–3 months as collagen remodeling progresses. The improvements tend to be lasting — particularly when combined with maintenance sessions.
Recovery and After-Care
FemTouch requires essentially no downtime. Here’s what to keep in mind:
- Return to normal daily activities immediately after your appointment
- Avoid sexual intercourse and tampon use for 3–5 days following each internal treatment session
- Mild spotting or discharge after treatment is normal and resolves quickly
- Avoid baths, pools, and hot tubs for a few days following treatment
- External vulva treatment may cause mild redness or sensitivity for 1–3 days, similar to any laser skin resurfacing procedure
Who Is a Good Candidate for FemTouch?
FemTouch is appropriate for most women in good general health. You may be an ideal candidate if:
- You are post-menopausal or experiencing perimenopausal vaginal changes
- You are post-partum and experiencing tissue changes or dryness, particularly after breastfeeding
- You prefer a non-hormonal approach — whether due to medical history, personal preference, or contraindications to hormone therapy
- You have mild to moderate vaginal laxity and prefer to avoid surgery
- You have mild stress urinary incontinence
- You want to improve the appearance, texture, or pigmentation of the external vulvar skin
FemTouch is not appropriate if you have an active vaginal infection, certain gynecological conditions, or are currently pregnant. I’ll review your full health history at your consultation.
FemTouch vs. Other Vaginal Rejuvenation Options
I offer several vaginal rejuvenation treatments at our Jupiter practice, and helping you understand the differences is part of what I do at your consultation. Here’s a simple way to think about it:
- FemTouch is best for tissue quality — dryness, atrophy, mild laxity, pigmentation, and mild urinary symptoms. It works at the cellular level by stimulating collagen and regenerating vaginal tissue. No surgery, no hormones, no downtime.
- TempSure Vitalia uses radiofrequency energy externally to improve vulvar tissue tone, comfort, and mild laxity. It’s a gentle, completely external option that pairs well with FemTouch.
- Vaginoplasty is the surgical option — the right choice when structural muscle laxity needs to be repaired, when non-surgical treatments haven’t produced enough improvement, or when the degree of laxity is significant.
- Fem Shot (PRP) uses platelet-rich plasma to enhance sensation and tissue vitality, and combines well with FemTouch for patients who want to optimize both tissue health and sexual function.
Many of our patients combine FemTouch with one or more of these treatments for a more comprehensive result.
How Much Does FemTouch Cost in Florida?
FemTouch is priced per session, with most patients requiring an initial series of three treatments. The cost per session and package pricing will be discussed at your consultation. Because this is a non-surgical, elective procedure, it is not covered by insurance.
Financing is available through CareCredit® and Alphaeon for qualified patients. Learn more about financing options.
