Labiaplasty in Jupiter, FL

Regain Your Confidence With a Labiaplasty in Jupiter, FL

With one of the best female plastic surgeons in Florida, its easy to see why we’ve become a leader in labiaplasty surgery. We see many patients who feel self-conscious about an enlarged or asymmetric labia. Some have discomfort related to an enlarged labia that make it difficult to wear tight pants, exercise, ride a bike, or enjoy intercourse. Other patients experience vaginal looseness as a result of childbearing, trauma, or aging. There may be a loss of muscle tone and stretching of the vaginal opening, which may interfere with sexual relations.

Fortunately labiaplasty and clitoral hood reduction surgery can improve both the appearance and symptoms related due to over-sized or asymmetric labia or clitoral hood, and vaginal rejuvenation surgery or laser can tighten the vaginal walls and opening.

Labiaplasty Surgery Explained, Woman to Woman: The Perfect Vagina

Our patients are often excited to find out that clitoral hood reduction and Labiaplasty surgeries are usually done in the office with oral medication to manage discomfort and anxiety if needed. Because oral sedation is used, labiaplasty surgery costs can be far lower than labiaplasty surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Vaginal rejuvenation surgery can often be achieved with non surgical or office based surigical tightening. However, full tightening of the vaginal canal usually done at an outpatient surgery center under general anesthesia or IV sedation.

After labiaplasty surgery or clitoral hood reduction, there will be discomfort and swelling for 1-2 weeks, which is controlled with prescription pain medication. This is similar to recovering from an episiotomy. Depending on your job you may be able to go back to work in as few as two of three days. Stitches dissolve on their own within a few weeks after labia reduction or clitoral hood lift surgery. You should also refrain from resuming strenuous activities for 4-6 weeks after labiaplasty or clit hood reduction surgery. The final result is seen as early as 6 weeks, although for some patients it can take 2-3 months for swelling to resolve.

What Is Labiaplasty And Clitoral Hood Lift And What To Expect

Labiaplasty is a procedure that reshapes and reduces the labia—the folds of skin at the opening of the vagina—to improve both comfort and appearance. A clitoral hood lift refines the fold of skin above the clitoris so that it stays in natural balance with the labia. The two are often performed together, since reducing the labia alone can leave the clitoral hood looking disproportionately full.

Women come to us for these procedures for many reasons. Some are born with an enlarged or asymmetric labia, while others notice changes in size, shape, or color after childbirth, trauma, or with aging. Beyond appearance, many patients experience real physical discomfort—irritation in tight clothing, difficulty with exercise, cycling, or other activities, and discomfort during intercourse. Labiaplasty and clitoral hood reduction can address both the physical symptoms and the self-consciousness that often comes with them.

Here’s what you can expect. In most cases, the procedure is done comfortably in our office using local anesthesia, with oral sedation available to ease any anxiety. Dr. Dana uses careful techniques designed to minimize scarring and preserve sensation, so that your results look natural and your comfort is protected. Dissolvable stitches mean there’s nothing to remove afterward. Most patients have some swelling and discomfort for one to two weeks that’s well controlled with prescription medication, and many return to desk work within a few days. Strenuous activity is typically resumed after four to six weeks, and while early results appear within about six weeks, final results settle as any remaining swelling resolves over the following months.

The video above walks you through the procedure in more detail. As always, the best way to understand what labiaplasty and a clitoral hood lift can do for you is a personal consultation, where Dr. Dana can answer your questions and recommend a plan tailored to your anatomy and goals.

Labiaplasty

Some women are born with an enlarged labia minora (inner lips) or labia majora (outer lips), and some notice a change in the size, shape, or color of the labia after childbirth, trauma, or with aging. We often see patients who experience embarrassment and discomfort in tight clothing, with exercise, and with sexual intercourse.

Labiaplasty Before & After
Individual results from procedures cannot be guaranteed, and may vary between patients.

Dr. Dana uses labiaplasty surgery to reduce the size of the labia to alleviate discomfort and improve the appearance of the labia. The labiaplasty surgery can be extended to the clitoral hood to provide a clitoral hood lift without a change to the nerves using techniques designed to produce minimal scarring. In most cases, the scars cannot even be seen after 4-6 weeks. You will likely have swelling and discomfort for a few days to weeks after labia or vaginal rejuvenation surgery.

Can I Tolerate a Labiaplasty With Local Anesthesia?

Yes, the great majority of our patients tolerate labiaplasty comfortably with local anesthesia, often combined with oral medication to ease anxiety and discomfort. Once the area is numbed, you shouldn’t feel pain during the procedure, only some pressure or movement.

Choosing local anesthesia over general anesthesia has real advantages. It avoids the risks and grogginess that come with being put fully under, it allows for a quicker and easier recovery, and it keeps your labiaplasty surgery cost significantly lower. For patients who feel nervous, the oral sedation option helps you stay relaxed and at ease throughout.

Of course, every patient is different. During your consultation, Dr. Dana will talk with you about your comfort level and anxiety, and together you’ll decide on the anesthesia approach that’s right for you. For more extensive procedures, such as full tightening of the vaginal canal, sedation or general anesthesia at a surgery center may be recommended instead.

How Painful Is a Labiaplasty

Will I Lose Sensation With a Labiaplasty?

This is one of the most common concerns we hear, and it’s an important one. The good news is that a properly performed labiaplasty should not reduce your sexual sensation. The clitoris and the nerves responsible for sensation are not removed or altered during the procedure.

When a clitoral hood lift is included, Dr. Dana uses techniques specifically designed to refine the hood without disturbing the underlying nerves. The goal is to improve comfort and appearance while fully protecting the structures that matter for sensation. In fact, some patients find that reducing excess tissue actually improves comfort during intimacy, since irritation and tugging from oversized labia are relieved.

As with any surgery, temporary changes in sensation—such as mild numbness or heightened sensitivity—can occur while the area heals, but these typically resolve as swelling settles over the following weeks. Preserving sensation is a central priority in how these procedures are performed.

The video above discusses this in more detail. During your consultation, Dr. Dana is happy to talk through exactly how sensation is protected and answer any questions you may have.

How Many Times do I Follow Up After Labiaplasty Surgery?

We stay close to you throughout your recovery, and most patients have three follow-up visits after labiaplasty surgery.

The first visit is within one to two days after your procedure, where we make sure everything looks good and you’re settling into recovery comfortably. Your second visit is at about seven to ten days, when we confirm that the stitches are dissolving as they should and that there are no signs of infection. Your final visit is at four to six weeks, when we check that everything has healed well and review your results.

If everything looks good at that four-to-six-week mark, most patients need no further follow-up. Of course, we’re always here if a question or concern comes up along the way—you can reach out to us at any point during your recovery.

The video above walks through what to expect at each visit. Consistent follow-up is part of how we help ensure a smooth recovery and the best possible result.

Vaginoplasty

Surgical tightening of the muscles near the entrance of the vagina (called the introitus) can often be done in the office with similar recovery to labiaplasty. This can help women whose muscles have been injured in childbirth leading to a weak or widened vaginal opening. Other patients experience stretching and weakness of the entire vaginal canal, which can be tightened with a surgery under general anesthesia.

During cosmetic vagina surgery, we remove the extra lining of the vagina and tighten the muscles underneath to decrease the dimensions of the vagina and increase and/or restore sexual gratification. Sexual sensation is usually greatly increased for both partners.

Vaginal rejuvenation or vaginoplasty is performed under sedation or general anesthesia combined with local anesthesia. The procedure lasts 1-2 hours, and it can be combined with other vaginal rejuvenation procedures like labiaplasty or pubic (mons) lift (See the before and after image at the bottom of the page.)

Most of our patients have mild to moderate discomfort for a few days to weeks after surgery that is easily controlled with pain medication. Strenuous activity should be avoided for 2 weeks after surgery, and sexual activity and tampon use should be avoided for 6 weeks after surgery.

Laser Vaginal Rejuvenation

Our Femtouch Laser is an alternative to surgery for some patients and can be used in addition to surgery for others to maximize results. Laser stimulates collagen and improves blood flow to the vaginal lining, which can improve vaginal atrophy. It can also improve the texture and color of the labia minora or majora. Our patients have seen improvements in vaginal tightness and an improvement in incontinence, although severe cases might require more invasive treatments. Patients also notice a significant improvement in symptoms of vaginal atrophy, like improved moisture and decreased discomfort with intercourse. The laser treatment involves a ten minute in office procedure with no time needed off work and only 2-3 days avoidance of intercourse. Most patients have 2-3 treatments about 1-2 months apart and then maintain with a yearly treatment.

Pubic Lift

Many of our patients have enlargement of the pubic area, causing a bulge in clothing. This can either be due to excess fat, which is improved with liposuction or excess skin and fat, which is treated with a pubic lift. A pubic lift tightens the area with an incision near the bikini line and can sometimes be done without general anesthesia. This procedure is often combined with a tummy tuck, but sometimes it is done alone. Recovery includes 2 weeks of restrictions on activities and minor swelling that can come and go for several months after surgery.

Risks

Any surgery, including vaginal surgery, labia surgery, and clitoral hood reduction surgeries carry a risk of infection or bleeding. Serious infection and bleeding are extremely rare with labiaplasty and clitoral hood reductions. Additional risks with include asymmetry, delayed wound healing, injury to nerves and blood vessels, injury to the colon (with vaginoplasty), and excessive scarring. Internal vaginal laser has been associated with temporary discomfort but not with more serious complications.
