Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in the US today because it is relatively easy and delivers lasting results. If you’re tired of shaving (and the rashes and cuts that come with it), tweezing and waxing unwanted hair, laser hair removal offers a more permanent solution. At the office of Dana M. Goldberg MD, we use Cutera laser equipment for hair removal and other noninvasive skin treatments.

Why Use Laser Hair Removal?

Convenience is a big factor: With just 3-7 laser hair removal sessions, you could have permanent results. You might have to have touch-up sessions in the future as hormones cause new hair growth, but grooming is a lot easier with significantly less body hair.

Speed of treatment is another reason to choose laser hair removal. Larger areas such as the legs or back may take up to an hour, but smaller areas such as the upper lip or underarms take much less time.

Are There Side Effects to Laser Hair Removal?

After the procedure, you may experience some redness and sensitivity similar to a sunburn on the treated area. Ice packs and anti-inflammatory creams can help soothe the area while it heals. You should avoid sun exposure before and for six weeks after your laser hair removal treatment.

When Will I See Results?

The hairs that were treated will gradually fall out over the course of the next month. Because hair tends to grow in cycles and not all follicles are active at the same time, it usually takes between three and seven sessions (4-6 weeks apart) to achieve permanent hair loss.
