LimeLight Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser treatments with our Limelight IPL system can tighten the skin, lighten dark spots, stimulate collagen production, decrease redness, and erase visible veins on the face and body.

Limelight treatment addresses uneven pigmentation, redness, sun damage, and surface imperfections on the face and upper body, including the neck, chest, arms, and hands. Genesis targets excess redness, large pores, uneven skin texture, and fine lines and wrinkles.

With age, your skin begins to lose collagen — and with that change comes the lines and sagging we all dread. At the same time, aging brings redness, age spots, a splotchy and uneven complexion and visible veins.

Laser and IPL skin treatments can correct all of these problems — from tightening sagging skin to making dark spots lighter to reducing the size of pores. Our office performs four different types of laser or IPL skin treatments: LimeLight, Laser Genesis, Pearl and Titan. LimeLight is used primarily for surface imperfections on the upper body and face. Here’s how it works and what it can do for you:

How LimeLight Works

LimeLight is an IPL—Intense Pulsed Light—treatment. It is unique because it offers three different wavelengths of light. The practitioner selects which wavelength to use based on your skin and conditions, selectively heating the brown and/or red pigmented areas of your skin. These hyperpigmented cells soak up the light and are destroyed. It is this process that causes the healing effect. There is a lot of confusion about the differences between IPL and laser treatments. That’s why we dedicated an entire page to helping you understand the difference.

How LimeLight Can Help

This type of noninvasive skin treatment is ideal for removing age spots, freckles, and other red or brown spots on the skin of the face, neck, arms, chest and hands.

LimeLight can help reverse sun damage and rosacea, and is a very popular option for improving the appearance of the skin on the upper body areas. It can even be used as an acne treatment and is good for removing tiny red facial veins.

The LimeLight Procedure

LimeLight therapy is often thought of as a laser skin treatment, but it actually uses IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) to heat up the darker areas of your skin and cause the destruction of the hyperpigmented cells that make up those dark spots — which darken and then flake off, leaving more beautiful and even skin behind.

Your practitioner can choose from three wavelengths of light to select the one that’s best for your treatment. When the LimeLight laser handpiece is pressed against your skin and activated, you might feel a quick sensation of heat that passes quickly.

Most LimeLight sessions last an hour or less depending on the size of the area being treated, and if you would like, a numbing cream can be applied before the session begins. You’ll probably need around three LimeLight sessions for best results.
