Labiaplasty and Vaginal Cosmetic surgeries are the new trend in Palm Beach

Jun 18 2012

Jupiter, FL, June 06, 2012 Female Board Certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Dana M. Goldberg says Labiaplasty and Vaginal rejuvenation are the new trend in Palm Beach. While it’s difficult to gauge just how many of these surgeries are being done every year, The American College of Plastic Surgery collected statistics on "vaginal rejuvenation" for two years and found only 800 surgeries in 2005 and just over 1,000 were performed in 2006. Today however, Labiaplasty and Vaginal Cosmetic surgeries have become one of the fastest emerging growth trends in cosmetic surgery procedures.

$99 Botox®?

Jan 30 2012

In south florida, there are hundreds of practitioners offering Botox® injections at prices that range from $99 to $450 per area. If you want the best deal, you may be tempted to jump at the $99 price, but before you decide least expensive is best, you need to know what you’re getting for your money.

Because there are so many places out there offering Botox®, it’s important to know how experienced your injector is. Some are fresh out of a video webinar and inject a patient every few weeks, while some have years of training and daily experience. The actual injection of Botox® is not difficult. Knowing where to put it so your eyebrows don’t droop and you can still open your eyelids all the way is where proper training and experience come in.

Improving your Health and Well Being with Breast Reduction

There are many reasons why a woman would undergo a Breast Reduction Surgery, but one of the most common is the fact that large breasts can cause back, neck, and shoulder pain problems, and getting the size of the breasts reduced is often the best way of solving this problem.  Having breast reduction surgery may also help other symptoms, such as shoulder strap grooving, headaches, and rashes under the breasts. This procedure should only be considered once you have been made aware of your options and only once you have consulted with your plastic surgeon.

Breast Reconstruction Surgery: There are many reasons why women choose to undergo Breast reconstruction Surgery.  One of the most common is reconstruction after a Mastectomy, but other reasons include breast trauma, tuberous breast deformity, or lack of breast development. These procedures can assist women in feeling whole again, and the biggest benefit is the fact that these surgeries can result in real-looking breasts. Another positive aspect of this surgery is the fact that it allows women the chance to conquer their cancer. Whether to have breast reconstruction is a personal decision that needs to be made by each, individual woman.

Will My Insurance Cover Removal of Skin Tumors and Lesions? by Danielle Z.

Dec 6 2011

I am a medical biller for dermatology and plastic surgery practices.  Throughout my experience I have noticed many patients do not know medical insurance will cover the excision of non-malignant (non-cancerous, benign) skin tumors and lesions.  These include nevi, moles, birthmarks and other skin defects. In billing thousands of these types of procedures I have never seen it denied by major medical insurance companies.

Why is it continuously covered?  Because they are considered high risk for becoming cancerous over time.  For this reason, having them removed is considered preventative and medically necessary.   Even lesions that are obviously benign can be removed and covered by insurance if there is any redness, itching, tenderness, or irritation. The best part is that you can have it removed by a plastic surgeon.

What’s the Truth About Skin Care?

Jul 27 2011

Before

Turn on any television channel and you will see promises for the perfect complexion from a variety of skin care companies. As a plastic surgeon, I must be honest with you that most all of them are likely to fall short on their promises. The reality is that the key to drastically changing your complexion starts much deeper in the dermis than over the counter skin care products penetrate.

So what options are best if you want to even out your skin tone by getting rid of age spots and blemishes?

Breast Reconstruction A Woman's Legal Right to Psycological Recovery

Jul 26 2011

About one out of every eight women will develop some form of breast cancer within their lifetime. In 2010 approximately 207,000 cases of invasive breast cancer were diagnosed, with another 54,000 non-invasive cases diagnosed.  Although breast reconstruction is an optional process after mastectomy, with over 2.5 women who have beat this disease, more and more women are choosing to have breast reconstruction as a part of breast cancer treatment. In fact, over 93,000 breast reconstruction procedures were performed in 2010, an increase of almost 20% from the year before .  In fact, breast reconstruction has been seen as being so critical to a woman’s recovery that in 1988, the Women’s Health and Cancer Rights Act (WHCRA) was passed. This law actually requires all insurance companies who offer mastectomy coverage to also provide for reconstructive surgery, including any adjustments to the opposite breast to get symmetry.

Anesthesia and Cosmetic Surgery

Jul 20 2011

When a patient elects to undergo cosmetic plastic surgery, they are likely to have anesthesia used during their procedure. As such, an informed patient should clearly understand the differences in anesthesia types and providers. The anesthesiologist is ultimately responsible for reviewing the patient's medical condition and history to plan the appropriate anesthetic for surgery, and is thus quite important when making decisions regarding cosmetic procedures.

In cosmetic plastic surgery procedures three primary types of anesthesia are used. Local anesthesia, regional anesthesia, or general anesthesia is used in all cosmetic plastic surgery procedures.

Local anesthesia

is injected by your plastic surgeon, and is used to temporarily stop the sense of pain in a particular area of the body. The patient is fully alert and conscious during a local anesthetic procedure.

How Much Does Tummy Tuck Surgery Cost?

Jul 13 2011

Tummy Tuck is one of my favorite cosmetic surgeries to perform. One of the first questions people have when deciding if a tummy tuck (or abdominoplasty) is the right surgery for them is “How much does Tummy Tuck surgery cost?”

The Quick Answer…

Tummy Tuck surgery prices can vary widely, depending on how much extra skin and tissue there is to remove. The price can be anywhere from $3000 to over $9000.

The More in Depth Answer…

That’s a pretty wide range, but there are a lot of factors involved.
Generally, the first cost is the cosmetic surgery consult fee. Surgical consults are free in my practice, but it is not uncommon to see as much as $100 charged for this visit. The fee is usually not a reflection of ability or quality, rather a reflection of the physician’s means of mitigating being stood up by no-show patients.
